CLINICAL EVALUATION OF THE
PENILE NATURAL RUBBER RING (KANDA) AS A
DEVICE IN MAINTAINING ERECTION AND DELAYING
PREMATURE EJACULATION
Premature ejaculation or rapid ejaculation is a
male sexual dysfunction where penile ejaculation
precedes sexual satisfaction. Both parties the
man and his partner never achieved the sexual
satisfaction per say even though the man did
achieve climax.
Some men can retain and maintained erection even
after ejaculation, however this skill also wanes
off after sometime when the pelvic Floor Muscles
became weaker and not able to sustain after
ejaculation. In other words there is rapid loss
of erection after ejaculation even though both
parties had penetrative sex but could not
prolong the stimulation like they used to
before.
Development of the Penile Ring
The first penile ring was invented when a rubber
band was applied around the base of the penis
during erection that actually managed to delay
ejaculation. The only problem is that it causes
severe constriction to the penis and prevent
ejaculation. There were other such devices made
of silicon with poor elasticity, that too failed
because of poor elasticity and the cost which
was pretty high. There were also ring made of
steel and horns as well as jade and beaded ones
as well. There was report of incidence of
serious penile constrictions with those hard
penile rings. The rings were sold for rather an
exorbitant price. The Jade Ring were sold
expensively a piece!
The present penile ring is made of special grade
natural rubber that has good tensile strength
and elasticity. One part of the ring is indented
and the ring is such designed to give a good
grip to the base of the penis and cause a gentle
constriction to provide some amount of
discomfort to the user that can be used as a
form of distraction to the mind to delay
ejaculation yet will not interfere with
ejaculation. At the same time the ring should be
easily available and should be cost effective.
The Clinical Challenge
KANDA was first evaluated in the Male Clinic in
the Male Clinic of the National Population and
Family Development Board in late 2003. All male
clients who attended the Clinic were asked if
they have ever experienced early ejaculation and
the ones that responded positive were given the
penile ring for them to test. They were
counseled on how to use the ring and to provide
feedback during the next followup. 150 clients
were recruited for this exercise. Some of the
clients were the male staffs of the Board, they
were given all the three sizes (S, M and L) and
the feed back received were:-
1. Preference Of Colors : Most Prefers Natural
Rubber Colors
2. Sizes : 80% Prefers M, None Prefer S.
3. Penile Discomfort Is Experienced When The
Size Is Small.
4. During Initial Use, All Clients Were Able To
Maintain Erection After Ejaculation, However 40%
Of Clients Still Had Rapid Ejaculation.
Frequent Use However Improves Rapid Ejaculation
In 50% Of Them.
5. 50% Of The Client Felt Coldness Of The Tip Of
The Penis If Foreplay Is Prolonged. This Is No
Cause For Alarm Sic E Blood Circulation Is
Maintained Through Microcirculation.
6. Erection Became Firmer And There Was Increase
In Dimensions (Thickness) In The Head And Shaft
Of The Penis.
Other Application of the KANDA Penile Ring.
1. Applied over the condom to prevent condom
slippage.
Useful for men with venous leakage, which is
able to get an erection but could not maintain
erection. By applying the ring to the base of
the erect penis, blood is prevented from leaking
to the prostatic venous plexus, thereby
maintaining erection for successful vaginal
penetration. This phenomenon is peculiar for
older males.
The Future of KANDA
Since early 2004 more than 200,000 penile
rings have bee dispensed. Considering that
the problems of premature ejaculation are a
common sexual ailment of the males, there is
a big market for the ring. The ring has been
patented and submissions have been made to
the Ministry of H
